I have an 7x57 that is built on Santa Barbara action and no problems, the action is a bid hard and not as smooth as an Sako action, but it works well. I think it`s good value for money.

Thanks for the replies guys, Mylani i think you and stefanvan are on the nose. Armed with your info i found it indeed to be a Spanish Santa Barbara action. These ones were commercial mauser actions made in 1969/70's for Parker Hale. Musgrave then bought a whole lot from PH England. From what I can gather these are not bad actions, although I would have preferred something more Germanic. Thanks ...

I have the same model. If you google it, any model that's serial number starts with an R, is a Mark III or IV if I recall correctly. It has the Santa Barbara K98 action. Thick barrel, lots of wood, heavy as hell, but very accurate!
