Thomas Mottola is back in the game. The former head of Sony Music is readying a strong release schedule for his Casablanca Records, a joint- venture deal with Universal Music Group. This week, R&B artist Usher, whom Mottola co-manages, will debut at No. 1 on the pop charts with more than 1 million copies sold. Mottola also is gearing up to make fashion designer Vera Wang a multimedia star. He recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter's music editor Tamara Conniff.
